Description

This picture made me late for class! I was leaving my dorm room heading for class when I made the mistake of looking at the sky. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I ran in, got my camera and took a few shots. Instead of being a typical overcast day, the clouds were made of very small clouds, all bunched together. The effect was amazing. I told my professor why I was late (although I never did end up showing him the picture) and he seemed to understand.

Technical Explanation

Be observant! Look around and don't be afraid to run to get your camera to capture the moment. While you will have many photo opportunities present themselves, there is nothing worse than seeing a great scene and not having a camera with you to record it.

There is nothing too special about the way I took this picture. The scene set itself. What is important is to get something in the scene to give some depth. I used the tree for that purpose. Also, remember the rule of thirds. As you can see, the tree is right over the first third of the picture on the left of the frame. That alone can make or break a picture.

This picture was taken in the mid 80's. It doesn't matter anymore that I was late for class that one day so many years ago. In fact, if it wasn't for this picture, I wouldn't remember that day at all. But now I have a nice memory, along with a nice picture to show off. Being late for class was definitely worth it.
