Description

This picture was taken while driving north from Dallas to Oklahoma. The sun was setting and the sky, well, it speaks for itself.

Note: I scanned this picture in several times, but I keep getting that dark area on the top right. Sorry about that. The picture does get darker in that area, but not quite that dark.

Technical Explanation

The sun, while not only providing light, also provides darkness to those things in front of it. While the sky is gorgeous, (that goes without saying,) what I really like about this picture is how the entire bottom of the image is in a silhouette. You can see a tree, some telephone poles and some buildings in the far background.

This was one of those times where the picture I really stopped for did not come out as planned, but the others that I took at the same time came out nice. Originally, I stopped the car because the sun was still visible. There were trees on the horizon and I wanted to have the sun peaking though the tree on the horizon and have the orange color as the sun is going down. That picture came out horrible! It was overexposed and blurry! What a disaster. But this one came out nice. I'm happy about that at least.
