Description
This is another waterfall located in Iceland. On my 1992 trip, we saw so many. Some,
believe it or not, were hidden from view. This one was way to big to hide. I knew it was
big, but sometimes you don't realize just how big things are until you get your pictures
back and take a really good look at them. Look how small the people are on the rock in the
center of the picture. Nature has a way of making you feel so small.
Technical Explanation
Remember, when composing your picture, use the rule of thirds. Imagine if you drew a
tic-tac-toe board over your image. The main focus of your picture should be in one of the
four areas where your lines cross. The falls are off center on purpose so that I could so
the contrast between the water, and the rock to the left. Both points of focus are
approximately at the one third mark.
Also remember to protect your lens. Use a polarizer, or a skylight filter. In this
picture, one challenge was to keep my lens protected from the mist of the falls. While I
am not too concerned about fine mist for a few seconds, I would not recommend letting your
camera get too much water on it.
