I hate Girlscout cookies.
Actually, I love them, which is exactly why I hate them. They taste good and they’re great with a large glass of milk. But lets face it. They’re not particularly good for you.
This is why I hate them. Not because of what they do to me, but because of what they do to the Girlscouts. While we try to get our kids to eat healthy and make good choices, we make them sell a food with little health benefit in order to make money. Is this right? Shouldn’t we practice what we preach?
I used to buy cookies from the Girlscouts, but no longer. I try to keep a healthy lifestyle and cookies just are not part of my diet. So as mean as I may seem to the innocent little girl at my door, I just can’t bring myself to buying something that I know is bad for me, no matter who is selling it.
I would like to see the Girlscouts offer some healthy options While there are those that are going to buy the cookies, I would be happy to order dried fruit or other creative, healthy foods. How about it Girlscouts? Are you up to the challenge? If you came by with some healthy options, you’d definitely have me sold.
